Warfield I by John Kahn

Well known as the bass guitarist for the Jerry Garcia Band,  John also accompanied Jerry in his work in art.  The two spent many quiet hours  working on their paintings and learning etching together.  John’s work was exhibited with Jerry’s at their first art opening at the Weir Gallery in 1990.  All of John’s watercolors are made on Twin Rocker paper,  handmade in small batches.  In this large (30″ x 36″) format Silkscreen print, the view is from the audience,  where you see fans with flashlights, recording devices, joints being passed, a dog and a cat, and one flying fan with a mic in hand;  others on the floor with a cat and dog.

This print is estate signed, meaning that John died before he could sign the edition. A silk-screened signature is printed bottom right.  A pencil signature of Linda Kahn is bottom left.
