Jerry Garcia, John Kahn, Roberta Weir, Alton Kelley and Stanley Mouse are among hundreds of California artists whose works were exhibited at the Weir Gallery in Berkeley California.

The Weir Gallery opened its doors in 1987 at the corner of Tacoma and Solano Avenues, quickly becoming known for intriguing theme shows on subjects from the sublime to the macabre, and for colorful opening parties that kept the track lights burning far into the night.

Jerry Garcia joined the Weir Gallery in 1989 and began figure drawing with Roberta Weir, who  introduced him to the art of etching. Several popular editions resulted from this association, with Jerry and John Kahn working together to produce their intaglio prints. In 1991 the Jerry Garcia/John Kahn Exhibit opening was attended by over a thousand fans, the crowd spilling into the quiet Berkeley streets. The gallery exhibited Jerry Garcia and John Kahn until its closing in 1995.

We continue to create and collect works of art worthy of your attention. Whether you are drawn to masterful technique or delighted by a sudden splash of insight or humor, the meaning in a work of art is always a personal gift from the artist to you; a reminder that this world is not a place–it is a perception.
